What are you building now?
I have been producing art for sale and for it's
own sake, in one form or
another, since I was a child. At first it was just airbrush jobs on remote
controlled cars and an occasional sign painting. That eventually turned
into a full lifetime of creating things for people. I do "directed" art in
that a lot of my work is by request or made to order. I also do "runs".
That is when I do a piece 3 or 4 times to get it right then do one big
piece or a limited run of pieces. I feel comfortable working in most
mediums and love to learn new techniques.
1929
Mercedes Gazelle Replicar This is my #2 Dream car of all time. #1 is a
T-bucket truck rat rod with a turbo-charged V-8 sitting on the front
rails.
This style however, runs a close second. There are actually a lot of
similar looking cars but the Mercedes SSK was a true classic. Only 31 were
made and of those (about) 10 were made into racing "SSKL" cars.
That leaves about 20 total cars of this type in the world. The replicar
kit is one of the most popular ever and I can't wait to get into it!
The
Ceilidh RV to Pirate ship conversion. This project has been idle for 6 months due to me
moving away from it. I just moved closer and now have a yard to park it in
so the Ceilidh should be coming home soon!
Airbrush Design Studio In the late 80's I
picked up a Paasche VL and went to town. Starting with standard fare
license plate and T-Shirt work I built a small store to carry around for a
while. I painted many Carnival rides and booths and did a lot of large
murals. Man this is an old picture.

Sideshow banners I
started painting sideshow banners in the early 90's when I was on the
sideshow. I painted banners for to many shows to name and my banners are
still flying on backlots around the country. I do mostly name and title
banners in the bright oranges and yellows of the old style
banners.
Woodwork and Woodcarving While I'm not the best carpenter in the world I do enjoy
woodwork and carving. I specialize in Celtic Knotwork and period camping
furniture. Break-a-part chairs and tables, scrolled tent poles and
decorated shields are just some of the things I've done. Pictured below is
a 6" tall "Fairy facility" that featured working paper rolls and some
included sculpted characters. To the left is a human powered ride I built
in Texas called "The Crow's Nest". Below that is my staff store.
Fire and Steel My
medium of choice is metal. Any metal; steel, aluminum, brass, I don't care
if it's ferrous or not, I love metal. From hand hammering armour to using
my homemade English wheel to round out a fender I love metal. I like
welding old tools up into sculptures and pounding new steel into gas
tanks. Please visit the fabrication page
for more pictures.
Electronics and Robotics Adding the element of movement and remote control is one of my
favorite things. I believe all art should move in as many ways possible.
Whether for a combat robot or a referee bot with all the bells and
whistles including a CO2 fire extinguisher and a flame thrower I really
love to build robots.
Foam and Fiberglass Using screen, foam and fiberglass I can create almost anything.
This style is very strong and holds color well but has it's own drawbacks.
Depending on the finish required this method can be more expensive and
take longer to complete.
Painting and Mixed Media Abstracts I have recently started
selling my art through shows around the country as a self representing artist. Metal abstracts
and original paintings along with Art trading cards and student art.
Here's the skinny. I
can build damn near anything. Just ask me! I take one-off and short run
commissions. I also have a few interesting pieces I haul around for shows
and such. I do performance art by building metal sculptures and toys live
and use my sideshow skills to entertain. The finished piece is usually
left to the venue to use as they see fit. (Examples) For car shows I build
hot rod wheelie golf carts. For bike shows I build low rider mopeds. For
art shows I generally do a metal mobile or an art car or bike. There is no
limit besides the mind. Click here to contact
me to ask about me working on your project, personal appearances or
buying a piece of stock art from the studio.
