Under Construction

Inside the "wet head".

I decided to angle the rear wall boards. I just like the look.

More than likely I'll get a little fancier with the mirror trim too.

It's all sealed up with silicone and about 6 coats of varnish to make it waterproof.

This is Megan just staining away at the refrigerator boxes.

The shelves are all made to look like separate boxes stored in the hold.

You can see the fridge in this shot. The 2 doors are connected to the fridge and freezer doors.

After staining but I still have to age the faces and the rope handles.

The fridge & freezer doors work great!

Different boxes open different ways.

I tried to hide the hinges as much as possible.

Starting on the Galley. The board on the right is where the propane tank will eventually sit. I have to carve a circle out of it so it becomes a socket for the tank.

Now it's time to say good bye to Grannies attic.

Bye Bye! Cut a lot of rusty crap out of her. Most of the steel is unusable but I can recycle that.

Big Pile 'O Crap.

Got this awesome Cask of Amontillado off e-bay for $20.00 This will be the cold water faucet.

Starting to gather treasure in the form of brassware and copper pots and kettles for the Galley.

Here's the base of the galley. About 9 coats of varnish lol.

Here's the layout for the sink.

Check this out! From the factory they didn't even weld the sides of the steel frame. A little tack at the top and bottom is all this frame has. Of course I'll fix that!

Not the prettiest welding I've ever done but it's strong as hell. And I welded up the parts they didn't.

Took this old canopy and the bumper off of an old golf cart I bought for another project and re-purposed it to be a brace for the bow. It's a good heavy thick wall steel.

Got the bottom piece of the new frame in.

It's hard to see in a picture but the new frame is actually a compound curve. It bends around to shape the bow but also angles out at the top to follow the new body line.

I bent it in the empty socket of the Reese hitch.

Poor thing. I bet the neighbors are wondering what the hell is going on back there.

kk, back to work!

Finally an update!

Things have been cooking right along and it's starting to feel like a real ship inside.

The cabinets are going in slowly and the "wet head" is almost done.

Moving along to the Galley now.

Time to clean up the front and get ready to cut!

This won't be as much fun as youd think because I will be taking it apart surgically. Both because I want to salvage the steel and I don't want to damage the cab or windshield.

Wish me luck!
